Spring, even-numbered years This course is a survey of the evolution of photography from ancient understandings of the principles of imaging to modern electronic imaging systems. The impact of photography as fine art, propaganda, and social and historical documentation will be explored. The student will also become familiar with contemporary photographers, their subjects, and working methods. Legal issues regarding censorship, privacy, and copyright will be presented and discussed as well. 3 credit hours. Satisfies ADR I.
