Spring Semester This course examines the cultural, historical, political, and technological history of graphic design from the late nineteenth century to the present. Emphasis is on studying the relationship between societal trends and the appearance of mass communication. Topics discussed include design during the early industrial age, avant-garde influence on graphic design, American modernism, the advent of Corporate Identity design, and postmodern graphic design. Prerequisites: ONE of the following: ART101, ART202, ART203, ART204 and ART205. 3 credit hours. Satisfies ADR I.
