This course affords students an introduction to fundamental principles used in the administration of health care organizations based on micro-organizational theory. The course will orient students to the specific challenges of managing in hospitals, health insurance firms, long-term care facilities and other health care organizations. The course will emphasize group dynamics and the challenges of working in an environment that includes highly trained professionals with varied interests such as physicians, nurses and technicians. The course will also develop a range of skills necessary to manage in an environment that is patient centered.
