This is an elective open to all upper level students. The course will incorporate elements of collage, pattern and texture into the student's vocabulary of art-making skills. Students will be encouraged to use a wide range of traditional and non-traditional art materials and will learn many different collage techniques through classroom demonstrations. A comprehensive historical overview of collage will be given through a series of lectures and presentations. Students will keep a collaged journal/sketchbook as a tool for self-discovery, exploration of materials and to document their creative process. Class projects will revolve around topical contemporary issues such as those of identity, gender and place. Studio Elective
