TRDR 204 - Sketchbook Drawing in Mexico

Institution:
Moore College of Art and Design
Subject:
Description:
This course will introduce the idea of drawing from nature and architecture exclusively in the sketch book format. It will challenge the student to describe and understand the perceived world in a small and portable format. This will present drawing opportunities which come from the freedom that small sketch books present. This will prove to be an asset to both fine arts majors as well as possibly appeal to students in design majors. This course will use Mexico City as its classroom. Mexico City is the world's largest city as well as home to magnificent architecture, examples representing over 1000 years. Students will be introduced to outstanding examples of sketch book drawing through slides and be encouraged to explore and experiment. The class will occur over a period of eight days in Mexico City during which time students will visit a vast variety of sites and drawing locales. There will be daily individual critiques and dialogue. Students work will be exhibited.
