Description:
This course utilizes hand applied light sensitive emulsions on a variety of surfaces. Students do not use purchased photographic papers, but learn to mix chemicals that will photosensitize unusual surfaces for a photographic process. These chemistries date from the earliest experimentation in photography and give a sense of history as well as invite experimentation and contemporary applications. This is an interdisciplinary course which asks students to draw from their various interests and expertise, including painting, drawing, digital processes, sculpture, and writing.
