This course explores the sculptural and design potential for low-tech off-loom processes. It introduces students to a wide range of non-traditional material as well as the work of numerous contemporary artists who utilize similar materials. The techniques include eastern and western papermaking, coiling, felting, plaiting, netting, knotting, and crochet. Concept development in dialogue with materials and techniques are stressed.
