Acquainting students with the major milestones in Graphic Design History gives them a perspective of where graphic design fits into the spectrum of art history, technology and modern aesthetics. Topics covered; the history of symbols, signs and non-type communication, the evolution of letterforms, history of books and publications, posters, roots of advertising (including images of women in advertising), early 20th century European influences and the new computer technology.
