A comprehensive basic painting course with an emphasis on realism - the depiction of representational subject matter. Based on old and modern master paintings and illustrations, students will learn reliable painting techniques to create modern realistic imagery. Methods of paint application from painterly to smooth and highly polished will be demonstrated. Topics include color theory, artists' materials and supports. Developing good working habits, combined with solid technical skills will be emphasized as well as developing a personal style. Working in an inspiring, friendly atmosphere, students will acquire a strong foundation in painting and a confident sense of purpose. Ideal for beginning painters. Intermediate and advanced painters are welcome.
