Students in this class focus on the book as art while learning to make traditional hardbound and nontraditional forms, such as blank books, albums and books as original art objects. Projects include a variety of books and bindings, including the Coptic bind and accordion fold book. Students may create their own story utilizing drawing techniques instead of typeface. Ink, watercolor, stencil and collage may be used on the inside of the pages. Book art is an incredibly versatile and current art form both for beginners and more experienced artists. This course is open to all levels.
