A study of religious and scientific theories of the origins of the cosmos from the Presocratics through contemporary cosmologists. The course examines developments of scientific theories of the cosmos in ancient Greece, the adaptation of those theories in the medieval church, the critique of ancient and medieval views in the early modern period, and the development of new theories in recent times.
