The course will examine trading post empires; colonization of the New World; the slave trade; the relationship among the industrial revolutions, nationalism in Europe, and nineteenth-century imperialism; independence movements; and neocolonialism.Prerequisites: sophomore standing or permission of instructor. 3 credits.
