This course uses the concepts of micro and macro economic theory to examine how health care is produced, delivered and financed. The tension between efficiency and equity that pervades the free market system will be a focal point. Topics such as the pricing of medical care, insurance and moral hazard, ethical problems of quality versus quantity control, and the political nature of policy decisions are examined. Prerequisite: ECN 101 and 102. 3 credits.
