Intensive study of children, birth to three, enabling the student to have an in-depth understanding of the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of a child. Includes required field experience focusing on an understanding of developmentally appropriate curriculum and environmental management skills, and understanding of the significance of play. Assessment and intervention of children developing both typically and atypically are addressed. Requires field observations in an infant/toddler program.
