A variety of theories and methodologies are used in this course to investigate the effect of mass media on the citizens of today's global communities. Students examine the types, techniques, and effects of mass media on behavior, emotions, and thoughts of individuals. Special emphasis is given to the media's coverage of world events, and how the techniques of persuasion are used to shape and creates values and mores. Prerequisite: PSYC 101.
