The course places emphasizes on the historical and contemporary events, issues and trends that influenced the direction and nature of the care and education of young children. It develops a comparative perspective of philosophical, sociological, and psychological theories that form the foundation of early childhood education programs and practices. A variety of curriculums and programs will be presented. Ethics for professional organizations and standards required in the State of Florida will be included in presentations. Students will observe early childhood settings.
