Factors influencing the female gender role as it changed in the last century and a half from the "Cult of True Womanhood" to the "New Woman" to t"Feminine Mystique" to the "Liberated Woman." Emphasis on the impact changing modes of American capitalism; women's efforts for equal rights and social reform; changing patterns of fertility; women's increased participation in the work force; changes in women's role in the domestic sphere.
