Prereq: PLSC 250 (311 recommended). Introduction to the U.S. Supreme Court as an institution within the American political system. Topics include court procedures and decision-making, constitutional history, judicial powers and doctrines, and the court's role in American society. No prior knowledge of the Supreme Court is presumed. may apply to do independent study projects. Enrollment is with the consent of the instructor and the chair. No more than 10 credits of independent study and internship, combined, may be counted toward the major.
