Studies the special problems faced by the less developed countries of the world and the economic mechanisms that must be taken into account in raising living standards. Topics may include population growth, the demographic transition, savings and capital accumulation, education and human capital, health and human capital, institutions and the development process, the role of history and multiple equilibria, and economic integration.
