Ropes and knots, rescue procedures and techniques, and hazardous materials. Preparation for certification as a basic firefighter. (This course may be offered only by institutions licensed as a fire academy by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection). Prerequisite: Must have EMT-B certification and be accepted into the Fire Academy. Corequisite(s): FIRS 1103, FIRS 1301, FIRS 1313, FIRS 1319, FIRS 1329, FIRS 1423, FIRS 1433. This is a 12-week course held at Bryaton Fire Field. Three class hours and two laboratory hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours. 60 total student contact hours.
