An introduction to the visual arts through an exploration of their purposes and processes providing each student with an understanding of the diverse ways in which different cultures construct and represent their reality. Examining historical and contemporary art, the student will acquire a vocabulary to describe formal properties of art, techniques of art making, and social, psychological, spiritual and physical uses of art.
