An in-depth introductory survey of contemporary biology for students majoring in the biological sciences. Topics emphasized include, the chemical basis of life, structure and function of cells, energy transformations, and molecular biology and genetics. Prerequisite: Exemption from or passing score on the reading section of the state test or completion of READ 0306 with a "C" or higherscore. Three class hours and three laboratory hours per week. Credit: Four semester hours.
