This course is designed to build on the skills learned in IDS 132. Students enrolled in IDS 130 and IDS 230 attend class together. IDS 230 students are expected to perform at a more advanced level and complete different assignments than IDS 130 students, as specified in the course syllabus. This course will focus on the study and application of the principles of college writing and reading with an emphasis on critical and analytical study. Students will write essays that follow several rhetorical methods, including description, expository and persuasion. In addition to the three hours of class time and homework assignments, this course requires one hour per week of individual instruction to be arranged. Prerequisite(s): Must be coded/admitted as a member of the Bridge Program. Must have a "C" or better grade in IDS-130 or ENGL-101.
