(Formerly HIST-242) The course will examine the United States during the time of the early republic. Topics will include: the developing sectional tensions over land acquisitions, social reform and slavery; the Civil War and Reconstruction; and the rise of large industrial corporations after the war. Prerequisite(s): Completion of ENGL-095 and READ-095 with a "C" or higher or assessment at college-level reading and writing.
