A survey course of basic topics in chemistry, which may include philosophy and methods of science, arithmetic calculations, the metric system, unit conversions, atomic theory, chemical bonding, types of reactions, stoichiometry, gases, solutions, acid-base chemistry, nuclear chemistry, kinetic molecular theory, equilibrium and redox. Recommended for students who plan to take CHEM& 161 (formerly CHEM 141 General Chemistry) but have not had High School chemistry or for students that want to fulfill laboratory science requirement for AA degree.
