TRFD 201 - The Art of Fashion in Florence & Rome

This trip is designed to introduce students to the art, fashion and culture of Rome and Florence. Students will have guided morning tours with a multi-lingual tour director as well as afternoon fashion and art study excursions with Moore faculty member Gene Dipilla. In Rome, students will experience first hand the areas of the city that supply fabric and trims for designers. Students will visit the boutiques such as Roberto Cavalli, Dolce, Fendi and Gucci to name a few. Students will also study work by Michelangelo, Bernini, Titian, Raphael and others at The Galleria Borghese. In Florence the students will study costume design at the Pitti Palace and visit the Ferragamo Museum as well as the flagship stores of many of the top Italian designers. The class will also tour Florence's many art collections including work in the Bargello, the Uffizi and the Galleria Dell' Academia. Before heading off to Venice students will visit the walled cities of Siena and San Gimignano.
