This course is an introduction and overview of basic lithography. Lithographic techniques are taught in sequence, beginning with preparing the stone on which to draw, printing and the ability to revise an image to take full advantage of lithography ? most fluid and expressive nature. Various historical and cultural approaches to the medium are explored and a field trip is taken to view major lithographic works in print. Through the course, emphasis is equally placed on learning the skills needed to make a technically successful lithographic edition and the dynamic relationship of lithography to drawing as well as other graphic mediums and studio practices. Satisfies: Printmaking Requirement or Studio Elective
