This course, required of all 2D and 3D senior Fine Arts majors, provide the student with essential transitional skill needed for the independent work of their Senior Thesis and the studio life of the practicing fine artist. The course presents contemporary issues and concepts for understanding post-modernism and art criticism, defining one's role in the art arena; establishing aesthetic, social political, and practical goals; and preparing for the senior thesis project. Course work will involve reading assignments, written art criticism, class discussions, guest speaker, field trips to artists studios, slide lectures, and other appropriate slides presenting your work; hanging a show; and writing for grant proposals and exhibition opportunities will also covered.
