IL 318 - Internship Prep

Institution:
Moore College of Art and Design
Subject:
Description:
The course instructor, department chair and career center director work in concert to provide a broad-based support program in preparation for a successful experience in the required summer internship. Guest speakers and field trips to relevant sites expose the student to areas for possible internships. Students review previous student internship binders to gain an insider's view of the companies or individuals they wish to approach for an internship. From initial research, cover letters, resume writing, phone calls, target portfolio preparation, and employer interviews, the student competes with others for the desired internship. In the spring semester, with the recommendation of the course instructor and final approval of the department chair, the student is matched with an appropriate employer. Students keep an internship experience binder and the employer evaluates the internship performance. These documents are reviewed in the fall semester of the Senior year. Satisfies: Major Requirement
