Interior Design in Paris will give students a broad overview of the best Interior Design available in Paris. A wide range of areas, including interior architecture, furniture, lighting, carpeting and decorative arts, will be visited and studied. Students will have access to outstanding House Museums and interiors, including visits to the Jacquemart-Andr?and Camando museums, the Centre Pompidou, the Villas la Roche and Jeanneret and H ? tel Carnavalet. Several days will be dedicated to period rooms of the Louvre and Orsay Museum. The course will begin with two lectures in Philadelphia before departure. While in Philadelphia, the students will also be required to prepare an analysis of a significant interior and present this to the class at the appropriate site in Paris. A typical day in this two-week program will consist of one or more site visits in both the morning and afternoon. Each student will be required to keep a sketchbook. Time will be made available for sketching in both the morning and afternoon. A short paper on a topic of interest to the student relating to issues of design discovered during the program will be required upon return.
