This course is designed to explore the formal, aesthetic and expressive possibilities in the interaction of traditional two and three dimensional materials, that will maximize the student's ability to express her ideas. This will be achieved through a rich dialogue of formal material and conceptual experience. Mixed media is used to make students aware of the possibilities of expanding studio practice and expressive vocabulary. Students are exposed to the principles of mixed media and begin to have an understanding of a specific visual expressive language, as demonstrated through class discussion and presentation. History culture materials and methods will be discussed as it relates to being used as a means of expression and understanding. Affording the opportunity to work across the mediums with traditional and non-traditional materials and modes of expression. Satisfies: Major Requirement
