This introductory course focuses on the aesthetic and technical investigations of black-and-white photography through a mix of lectures, demonstrations, slide discussions, and assignments. Students progress in defining their individual voice and unique way of seeing. Projects provide direction in learning a range of skills intended to develop visual language with an emphasis on tonal control. Through group and individual critiques, students will gain a solid aesthetic foundation in photography. This course will include the tools learned in Adobe Photoshop software on Macintosh or PC computers. Prerequisite: Digital Photography I or basic knowledge of digital cameras and Photoshop tools.
