An in-depth study of the confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union from the end of World War II to 1991. The course will analyze reasons for the cold war, evaluate the policies and actions of the United States and the Soviet Union, and examine the rivalry's impact on other nations. In addition to the political and military policies associated with the cold war, social, economic, and cultural issues will also be addressed. Class 3. Prerequisite: Junior or Senior standing.
