A method of instruction providing detailed education, training, work-based experience, and direct patient/client care, generally at a clinical site. Specific detailed learning objectives are developed for each course by the faculty. On-site clinical instruction, supervision, evaluation, and placement are the responsibility of the college faculty. Clinical experiences are unpaid external learning experiences. Students participate in the following areas: 48 hrs ER; 16 hrs OR; 16 hrs clinic; ICU/CCU; 16 hrs L and 72 hrs. minimum EMS. Prerequisite: Appropriate scores on the reading, writing, and math portions of the THEA Test or alternate test OR completion of the math, reading, and writing developmental course sequences. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Paramedic Program and successful completion of first semester paramedic program coursework. Co- Enrollment: EMSP 2444, EMSP 2434, EMSP 2330, EMSP 2338. A score of 270 or higher on the MATH portion of THEA, 230 or higher on the Reading portion of THEA, and a 6 on the Writing portion of THEA, or completion of the appropriate remediation sequence of courses. This course requires the student to have completed the Hepatitis B vaccination, a 3 shot series mandated by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
