(Summer; Yearly; 4.00 Credits; S,I) This course guides students through the process of exploring and theorizing about the classroom practice of teaching English to second language learners. A practical component of the course includes supervised proactive teaching in an international classroom. The goal is to develop the teaching skills to respond to the constantly changing classroom contexts that characterize ESL teaching in U.S. public schools. Corequisite: ED462C. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. Students registering for this course are taking the Ecuador trip and want credit for the courses associated with the trip only (ESL463C and/or ESL462C).
