Specifically tailored for School of Design majors, this course investigates a variety of business practices and models, which are presented within a context emphasizing the role of the designer as part of the collaborative business team. Students investigate various models and market structures and become familiar with issues including contextual research, user-centered design, project management, patents and contracts, and strategic planning and experience the challenges of team dynamics and collaboration in creative problem solving scenarios that expose students to various roles of a designer in the business world. Prerequisites: COMM 105, ENGL 123.
