EVS 365 - The Earth from Space:Remote Sensing of the Environment

Institution:
Albright College
Subject:
Description:
Global environmental change is one of the most pressing international issues of the next century. There is need to monitor the earth's vital signs from atmospheric ozone to sea level change. Remote sensing data sets are vital in addressing global change issues, in determining natural variability and monitoring global and regional changes. This course introduces students to the theory and techniques of remote sensing and their application to environmental analysis. It covers the science behind global changes and Earth System remote sensing and global change; spaceborne instrumentation for these measurements; and remote sensing data and their applications. Physical science elective for environmental concentrators. Prerequisite: EVS 101 or permission of instructor, BIO 311 or an EVS course at the 300-level is recommended
