[Prereq. ARC 5286.]This course investigates the evolution of architectural practice and the role of the architect from a historical and contemporary point of view. Emphasis is placed on the current state of practice and its relation and obligations to the community, the marketplace, and the profession. This course explores the varied contexts in which architects have negotiated, conceived, and executed professional services from antiquity to the present. A major intent of the course is to explore professional ethics as related to architectural practice and to assess the architect's obligation and relationship to the community.
