3 Credits Dramatically different space programs in the U.S. and the Soviet Union accomplished many of the same goals, with one important difference. This course will examine the Russian space flight efforts in light of the dramatic race to space, from the first concepts of Tsiolkovsky to today's International Space Station project. Discussion of the highlights of Russia's well-known as well as obscure space programs will offer the student insight into the space flight record that is often missing because of the secretive Soviet Union.
