Three hours per week. Study of the origins of dance from its earliest recorded times through the 1800's. Focus will be on the development of dance as a concert art and specifically the formation of ballet and its earliest creators and performers. This course, combined with DANC 318WI, Dance History and Criticism II, will replace and enrich the solitary course, DANC 315WI.
