AVS 402 - Advanced Aircraft Systems I

Three hours per week. Prerequisite: AVS 301, junior status. Advanced studies of jet aircraft systems currently in use in commercial aviation, with emphasis on one specific type of transport category aircraft. The course will examine the design, integration, and functioning of system components along with turbine engine theory. Included will be mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems. Also, an introduction to modern concepts in technology in the cockpit, including electronic flight control and navigation systems with cathode ray tube and light emitting diode displays (glass cockpits).
