Preparing ESL students for successful integration into degree and certificate programs; focus on academic skill development (study skills, note taking, test-taking strategies, internet research, essay writing, academic vocabulary building, reading comprehensive of college texts, PowerPoint/oral presentation, etc.) and cultural values/issues (active listening and participation, assertiveness, time management, avoiding plagiarism, etc.) integral to a successful academic experience and not a regular part of ESL primarily life-skills oriented courses. Prerequisite: CASAS Reading and Writing scores between 220 and 235 or permission of the instructor.
