This required, pre-major course introduces the history and evolution of nursing as a profession. The student explores professional values, ethics, and the law regulating nursing practice. Basic health promotion principles are examined. Steps of the nursing process and concepts of the Neuman Systems Model are defined. Strategies to promote successful transition to the nursing student role are emphasized. Prerequisites: BIO 106/116, BIO 205/215, BIO 206/216, CHEM 101/111, ENG 101, ENG 102, PSYCH 101, and SOC 101.
