This survey course introduces students to selected topics within the field of criminal justice. Areas of study include the scope and goals of the criminal justice system, the definitions and explanations of related criminal justice terms, as well as the history, development, and philosophy of law enforcement in a democratic society. Students also examine agencies which are involved in the administration of the criminal justice system, classical and contemporary theories of crime,the nature and causes of crime and criminal behavior, and the relationship between law and crime. Prerequisites: LSENG 190 and LSLIT 110. Open to Liberal Studies Degree students only.
