This course analyzes the various criminal and civil laws of the American judicial system. Students examine constitutional and statutory concepts that govern the introduction and use of information, such as due process and the procedure through which an offender enters the criminal justice system. The trial process, as a formalized legal proceeding as seen from the perspective of both the prosecution and defense, is also discussed. Prerequisites: LSENG 190 and LSLIT 110. Open to Liberal Studies Degree students only.
