In this course, students are provided with an opportunity to explore some of the most important movements in aesthetic theory and literary criticism, from Aristotle to Deconstruction and beyond. Through the close readings of primary literary texts, coupled with primary critical and theoretical articles, students learn to both understand and apply these methods of inquiry to literature. Prerequisite: HUM 200.
