Students apply their knowledge of the teaching of reading at age-appropriate levels by tutoring children in need of remediation who have been assigned by area schools. Students have the opportunity to teach, obtain feedback, provide children with corrective information, analyze reading problems, and implement action plans. Students spend the semester working within classrooms and schools, completing projects that demonstrate an understanding and application of theory. Prerequisites: EDU 202, EDU 220, and EDU 248; concurrent with EDU 345. This course can only be taken after the student has received an official Letter of Acceptance to the Education major.

This course requires a Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Clearance. Out of state residents are also required to have an FBI fingerprint check. NO STUDENT MAY BEGIN CLASS WITHOUT EACH OF THE REQUIRED CLEARANCES. Applications are available in Room 338 and take 4 - 6 weeks to process.
