Adventure, magic, mystery, and romance form the backdrop of this course which highlights Old and Middle English literature (excluding Chaucer's Canterbury Tales). Legends such as those of King Arthur and his Round-Table knights and of Tristan and Isolde and their magic philtre of undying love show how language, theme, and motif constitute the ageless enchantment of the medieval period. Prerequisite: English Literature Core.
