Description:
This introduction to the craft and art of writing poetry is conducted as a writer's workshop in which students are encouraged to share poems that they write in a mutually supportive small-group environment. To understand types of poetry, students also read models of exemplary poems to analyze structure and style and, occasionally, to imitate. A portfolio is required as part of the student's evaluation. Prerequisites: ENG 102 and English Literature Core (both with a minimum grade of C).
