This interdisciplinary course examines the function of the arts in human societies and individuals. Some of the major critical theories pertaining to literary, visual, and the performing arts are also introduced. Students learn how to discern and analyze their own responses to the experience of art, and they also study the ways in which the arts reflect and transform societies and cultures. Prerequisite: Fine Arts Core. Co-requisite: English Literature Core.
